So ok, everyone's asking for a narrative - see you all make fun of me for my detailed accounts of my daily adventures, but you miss it when it's not there! Mwahahaha....anyways, we get to Fuerteventura, take a cab to the hotel and on the way see nothing but desert. We're like great - this is going to be a nice resort where the beach is 5 million miles away and all the pictures lied, etc. etc. However - we turn the corner and there's Riu All Inclusive Resort! and it's right on the beautiful beach and Heather and I have a 2 floor little apartment dealie all to ourselves! FANTASTIC! So, we get settled in and go immediately to the beach. We grab a snack at the snack bar by the pool on the way and then lay out in the sun which is, at that point, setting - but no we are NOT going inside until it is dark out because this is our spring break and we're getting tan, dammit! Ok so after it gets too cold, we go back to our room, unpack and go to dinner...all-inclusive dinner = fantastic, let me just say that...that night we go to the "show" that they put on - this is our first experience of a show that we will come to know and love very much. This night's show involved parrots that could ride tricycles, add numbers and count! Then the entertainment group ("Animacion") came out and did some sort of entertainment thing, I forget...and it was funny and cheesy and basically a whole lot of fun considering the entire resort was full of parents with their kids and people over the age of 60 - and also from EVERYWHERE - the staff had to be able to speak like 6 different languages, and they allll did - so everytime they'd say something they'd say it again in every language - Spanish, English, Italian, French, Dutch, German...it was crazy. So we made friends with the Animacion people pretty quickly, they kept asking us to play games and stuff so of course we did - our first game experience was Bingo - FANTASTIC! Grammy and Grampy would be proud..and then other days our activities ranged from Riflery to Pin Pon (that's Spanish for...Ping Pong...) to "Crazy Games" to Bocce (aka French Balls) to Darts! PS you better watch out, I'm going to train with Grant's air pistol when I get back, I got a bulls-eye one of the days! :) There was a discoteca a few of the nights that we went to and had a great time dancing and being ridiculous at - Paul is definitely the most ridiculous dancer I have ever seen in my entire life - way worse than Elaine from Seinfeld - he kind of just runs around with his arms up in the air teeter tottering back and forth and like stopping every once in a while to do some sort of hilarious jerky motion with some limb or combination of limbs...all the while without any front teeth...hilarious...I really wish I got it on video...anyways, we basically did a whole lot of laying out in the sun when there was sun to lay out in, and when there wasn't we played games or just hung out and chatted...We planned our days around our meals, as you do when things are all-inclusive like that hehehe...annnnnnd it was just wonderful to be able to kick back and relax and not have to worry about money since it was all already paid for or like feeling like we had to go out and see the sights since...there weren't any sights to see! One night, Heather and I ran up on stage to participate in the Miss Riu Oliva Beach contest! We had to do things such as run around the room and kiss as many guys on the cheek as we could, grab balloons and run with them behind our butts and jump on one of the Animacion group's laps to pop them - his name was Jesus, he was pretty cool! Heather won that contest, I won the kissing one though! Hahaha...We kissed a lot of 60 year old guys, it was funny!! then another contest was walking with a book balanced on our heads around cones...Heather won that one too...Another one was placing 10 guys in order from youngest to oldest - I got 1 guy in the right place...hahaha So, needless to say, Heather - or shall I say "Isabella" won - they asked for people from different countries so she said she was Isabella from Italia (and since they said everything in 6 different languages, including English, she played it off pretty well) Anyways, I got a cool certificate for participating and Heather got a bottle of champagne and a Riu beach bag (very cool - pretty jealous haha)...and I got a bottle of champagne for winning at Crazy Games! Although...we didn't even drink them...we left them in the fridge of our room so we're thinking the cleaning staff had a wild time...Let's see...other than that, we saw Flamenco dancers the last night we were there - they were the main show that night - and also Animacion put on a "Grease" production that was entirely lip synced and absolutely hilarious since none of them knew the words very well...another night was acrobatics night (you see the picture above of the 80 year old man on top of the other guy - he was ridiculous - he did crazy Cirque du Soleil stuff) and another night was Jukebox night where all of Animacion did different songs from the 20th century. So, I think that's all the news that's fit to print about our trip to Fuerteventura - bottom line, if you're ever looking for a really fun All-Inclusive Resort to stay at - Riu is definitely my #1 choice :) Love you all! Ciao!

Where's the narrative? I want to hear all about it! The place looks beautiful.
It's coming right now! I was getting kicked out of the computer lab and I figured you'd rather see pics right away than narrative...
LOVE the shots... beautiful place.
Oh my GOD this is hilarious. After reading this blog, I feel like the name of this place says it all: STRONG ADVENTURE, Canary Islands, Spain!!! (Yes, this is Aunt Liz writing this.)
